Keep My Light Burning

For our friends and family

Wednesday I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy done to see what might be causing my abdominal pain. The tests went great, but the prep for 24 hours before was not fun. I felt really awful by the time I arrived for the tests. It was just good to get them over! I slept most of the day before and after my procedures, but now I’m feeling great.

We didn’t get any bad reports from the initial results of the tests related to cancer, but the doctor said that I have acid reflux disease and gave me a prescription to help with this. The other tests were all clear!

This Monday, I’ll have another appointment with Dr. Aggarwal and see what she wants to do. I think she’ll order another test that requires minor laproscopic surgery to keep looking for the source of my pain. I didn’t have chemo this week, but I’m sure it will start back up next week.

Thanks for your encouragement and thoughts.

Not too much to report this week. I had Herceptin treatment yesterday and saw Dr. Aggarwal. I also saw the Gastro doctor, and he has scheduled my tests for October 29. I’ll have another Herceptin treatment next week, but we’re mostly waiting for these new test results.

I’m feeling pretty good, which is a big praise. Thanks for your encouragement and prayer support. It’s my prayer that I live my life worthy of the call that I follow and your interest in what I write. Enjoy another beautiful fall weekend!

I had Herceptin treatment again this week, and it went without problems! I’m feeling a little better because I’ve been taking my medication on a more regular schedule. Tonight, Mark and I are going to Indianapolis for three days to see the Do it Best hardware show and enjoy the time away together. We’re really excited to have some time alone and see our old friends from Do it Best (I worked there for 8 years).

What a beautiful weekend…God has certainly displayed his love for us through the great colors of the season. Remember to say a prayer of thanks for this gift the next time you see something beautiful!

Mark and I just met with Dr. Aggarwal for my test results from the CT last week. We got great news that the cells in my lymph nodes have responded to chemo and the liver spot is smaller!! However, she still doesn’t feel like we have an explanation for the pain that I’m experiencing. This means more test. Ugh. I’ll be going for a gastrointestinal round of tests and maybe a lapriscopic procedure to look inside my belly. None of these areas would show cancer in any of the scans that I have. We don’t have appointments yet, but I’ll keep you posted.

My treatment this week goes on as scheduled, but I the doctor suspended the one drug until we get results back from these new tests.

Thanks for praying…it’s still working!

My scan went fine, and we’ll get results on Monday morning. I also had a Herceptin-only treatment this week, and I was delighted to get to sit by my friend, Sally, who is also going through chemo, and visit the whole time! We grew up together in Markle and were college roomates at Ball State. Imagine that!

I’m still taking more pain medication, but I’m feeling a little better. I’ve been at work all day, and we have a busy weekend planned. I’m taking both of the girls and their friends (separate days) to see a new movie as part of their birthday presents. We should have a great time!

Enjoy the beautiful scenery that God has provided in the fall.

I stayed home from work yesterday because the pain in my abdomen was worse than usual. Actually, I got ready for work and drove all the way to 469 before turning around and coming home. I didn’t want to get to IPFW and not feel good enough to get back home. (This is part of my effort to make better decisions about my health.)

Since my pain seems to be getting worse instead of better, I called the doctor yesterday. They’re going to run another CT scan of my abdominal area this afternoon and see what’s going on. I’ll meet with Dr. Aggarwal on Monday for results. She’s told me to double my pain medication for now, and we’ll continue with my treatment schedule this week too. I’m at work today because I feel better after taking a pain pill. Please keep this situation in your prayers.

Thank you.
