Keep My Light Burning

For our friends and family

My hair is starting to grow back after the whole-brain radiation I had last summer! I still wear my wig everywhere I go because it’s not more than 1/4 inch long, but I’m encouraged that I might be able to enjoy the summer without a wig. I already hang around the house without it.

It might sound trivial after all we’ve been through, but this is a blessing to us. My radiology doctor told me the hair would probably never return after that strong of a treatment. Well…we’ll show him! The color is awful…mousey gray/brown…so I’m sure I’ll be changing the color as soon as possible. No one liked my dark hair the last time it came back in 2004, especially Mark.

I’m starting my 7 days off from Xeloda today, and I’m feeling great. We see Dr. Aggarwal again next week, but nothing seems to be changing right now, so we expect good results.

Our kitchen construction is underway and going very well. They hope to have it all done in less than two weeks, and it will look great. Thanks for your prayers on this one.

I love you all.

Sandy

We got great news on our house today. The insurance company has agreed to cover the damages!!! Turns out the pipes didn’t freeze and break, but a cap blew off the end of a pipe and caused the damage. A couple very dear friends from our church already have a crew working on cleaning up the mess and tearing down the wall. They are spraying to destroy the mold and then they’ll be able to start the repairs next week.

God is so good…all the time! Thanks for praying for this need.

Oh…I’m still feeling pretty good, too!

We’ve had some water damage to our house in Harlan that we’ve been trying to sell, and we’ve temporarily pulled it off the market to make repairs. The damage was caused by a broken water pipe that froze in the last cold spell. We’re waiting on our insurance adjuster to look at it and give us a report. Please pray that they will take the claim and that we can get this work done as soon as possible.

Thanks.

I met with Dr. Aggarwal this week, and all is well. I’m still taking my oral chemo every day, and she’ll re-evaluate that schedule in March. I’ll also have my regular scans (PET and MRI of the brain) in March and get results from both scans.

My heels began cracking last week like my fingers, and it was really painful. Mark took care of me, though, and my feet are better. He always does such a wonderful job of watching over me and caring for me. I’m such a lucky girl!

This Bible verse was sent to me yesterday, and it made my heart smile. Has yours ever done that? I think we forget how much God loves us and wants to meet our needs. It’s Zeph. 3:15 (NIV):

17 “The LORD your God is with you,
       he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.”

I’ve been saved by his mighty love, and I’ve been quieted with it too. My prayer is that you also know and/or find this source of strength for your life.

Thanks for continuing to love our family.

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged us about our great news in January. We truly appreciate your time and effort to share with us.

Last Saturday, Shelby, Mom and I were priveleged to attend the IPFW Pink Out event at the ladies’ basketball game. It was a treat for us all, and we got all kinds of free gifts (pink– of course) and sat in the new Bud suite. They honored breast cancer survivors at half-time and made us feel very special. Thanks to my friend Jennifer for the suite tickets!

I am feeling really good this week, and I’m on a break from my one chemo. We see Dr. Aggarwal again next week for our regular check up.

Take care and keep praying!

Sandy
